SOUTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION 3 NORTH ROUND 1 – Takes place on Saturday 19 April at Woodside Stadium, Horseshoe Lane, Watford WD25 7HH, Under 17 to Veteran Men & Women, first field event starts at 12.00noon, first track event starts 12.15pm. THE LONDON INTER CLUB CHALLENGE – Takes place on Monday 21 April at the Lee Valley Athletic Centre, 61 Meridian Way, Edmonton, London N9 0AR. Is free to all members of Shaftesbury, but why not bring a friend and introduce him to athletics (there is a charge of £2 per event for non-members). Registration opens at 11.00am, and closes 30 minutes before the published start time. All events are for both male and female age-groups unless stated. Both track and field events commence at 12 noon, Timetable attached. Note: You do not have to be pre-entered, just turn up and register. 

THE UK YOUTH DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE UPPER AGE-GROUP SOUTHERN PREMIER – Takes place on Sunday 27 April at the Sportspark, University of East Anglia, Norwich Research Park, Norwich NR4 7TJ, Under 17 and Under 20 Men & Women. VIRGIN MONEY LONDON MARATHON – Took place last Sunday 13 April and our results were;

TONY JACKSON V45 completed his 6th London in (9th V45, 180th 2:39.27) and they have all been in the 2:37 to 2:40 range, SARAH WILLIAMS was 17th Woman home in a (PB 2:50.51) taking 6 minutes 51 seconds off her PB, RONAN BREEN V40 also his 6th London ran (2:55.04), ELEANOR DICK was her 5th London ran (3:13.52), MARION BUGGINS running her debut marathon finished in (3:25.26), finally STUART SINGER V50 completed his 10th marathon since 2010 (5 in London) finished in (3:28.45). 

VIRGIN MONEY LONDON MINI MARATHON – Took place last Sunday 13 April, and the athletes competed for the London Borough of Barnet unless stated;

Regarding JAMIE HARPER he hurt his knee early on in the race but rather than drop-out he completed the course as he had been sponsored to run on behalf of Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. Although of course disappointed at the injury, in finishing, he raised over £850.

Under 13 Boys – NATHAN FERNANDES 7th (17.16), FINN HARVEY 10th (17.27), JACK BLOOM 44th (18.37), ALFIE CASTANG 69th (19.07), JUDAH YAWITCH 74th (19.16), DANIEL GREENSTEIN 104th (19.49), JAMIE HARPER 165th (20.48) the winner was Turkay Korkmaz of Southwark (15.16), Team Result 1st Bromley 124 points, 2nd Havering 207, 3rd Wandsworth 220, 5th Barnet 293. 223 runners finished.

Under 13 Girls – LIA RADUS 5th (18.41), MIA GROOM 15th (19.25), SCARLETT KENT 20th (19.44), OLIVIA BOWEN 39th (20.30), JOSEPHINE CHADWICK 46th (20.43), GEMMA HARPER 55th (20.46), KAYLA MICHEL 65th (20.58), NICOLE BOWEN 126th (22.15), NICOLE BOWEN 126th (22.15) the winner was Eloise O’Shaughnessey of Wandsworth (17.49), Team Result 1st Wandsworth 123 points, 2nd Barnet 180, 3rd Havering 180. 229 runners finished.

Under 15 Boys – GEORGE GROOM 8th (16.40), HAMZA KADIR 43rd (17.43), OLIVER GREENSTEIN 92nd (18.26), RUFUS KENT 95th (18.29) the winner was Terrence Fawden of Haringey (15.26), Team Result 1st Havering 237 points, 2nd Bromley 258, 3rd Redbridge 279, 14th Barnet 567. 221 runners finished.

Under 15 Girls – SOPHIE BOWEN 13th (19.13), GEORGIE MARLBOROUGH 17th (19.25), MARIE SATO 21st (19.38), ELLA COHEN (Brent) 125th (22.54) the winner was Sabrina Sinha of Greenwich (16.31), Team Result 1st Bromley 92 points, 2nd Greenwich 237, 3rd Redbridge 274, 5th Barnet 331. 216 runners finished.

Under 17 Men – KHALID-ALI AHMED 22nd (16.14), NATHAN BLOOM 34th (16.29), JAMES SOTHCOTT 36th (16.41), HARSHIL JOSHI 129th (18.37) the winner was Paulos Asgodem of Haringey (14.35), Team Result 1st Bexley 206 points, 2nd Barnet 270, 3rd Bromley 279. 208 runners finished.

Under 17 Women – SOPHIA PARVIZI-WAYNE (Camden) 3rd (16.53), EMMA DWAN 30th (19.49), ELLIE MCNAMARA 93rd (22.36), GAIA CASCIELLO 118th (23.30), ZOE CAVENDISH 123rd (23.40) the winner was Phoebe Law of Kingston Upon Thames (16.34), Team Result 1st Camden 196 points, 2nd Richmond Upon Thames  216, 3rd Bromley 219, 10th Barnet 440. 205 runners finished.
