NATIONAL WOMENS ROAD RELAYS CHANGES – The National Six-Stage Road Relays for Women which is being held on Saturday 11 April at Sutton Park, Birmingham, will incorporate two longer legs this year for the first time. In a bid to differentiate the six-stage from the four-stage in the autumn, the event on 11 April will include 5.38 mile stages on legs one and two followed by the usual 2.99 miles on legs three to six.

The Men’s twelve-stage relays, held in conjunction, have traditionally alternated between 5.38 mile and 2.99 mile legs and this will resume after last year both the long and short stages were shortened.

ENGLAND ATHLETICS CONSULTATION MEETING – We would like as many SBH members as possible to attend. The meeting Is being held for the London Region on the evening (7.00pm to 9.30pm) of Monday 30 March at the University of London Meeting Rooms, University of London Union, Malet Street, London WC1E 7H. We are very keen that as many London – based clubs as possible are able to send representatives, and have chosen the location in order to make it as simple as possible for all clubs to get there.

You may well have seen from the England Athletics website (http://www.englandathletics.org/Consultation) that England Athletics staff, board members and councillors will be meeting at venues across England’s nine regions to explain the services, benefits and resources that make up the England Athletics Club Support Package.

The meetings will be an opportunity for volunteers, athletes and others involved in the sport to feed back their views on where England Athletics should be focusing support, what they value and where they would like to see increased or decreased investment. It will also be an opportunity to hear more about England Athletics’ new commercial partnerships and some of the benefits to members that have arisen from these.

The events will also form part of the development of a longer-term strategy for England Athletics and it is essential we hear from club and county representatives, coaches, officials, athletes, parents and teachers on how they wish to see the sport succeed in years to come so that the strategy can reflect the views and needs of the sport. These events are your chance to tell us what is on your minds and to debate issues in an open forum.

Of course, the London event is also an opportunity for you to discuss matters that directly affect clubs, athletes and volunteers in London and meet your representatives on the London council. We very much hope that you or colleagues from the club will be able to attend on March 30th.

In order for us to plan for the event, we would like you to register by email at consultation2015@englandathletics.org with your name, club and your role within the club. The event is open to absolutely everybody, no matter what role you occupy within your club, so athletes, volunteers, officials, coaches and committee members are all welcome. More detailed joining instructions will be sent to those who have registered. If you are not the correct person for us to be contacting for your club, we apologise and ask that you please forward this e mail as appropriate and let us know where communications of this sort should be directed in future.
