THE FIRST EASTERN YOUNG ATHLETES LEAGUE FIXTURE Takes place this Sunday 13 April at Ashton Playing Fields Track, 598 Chigwell Road, Woodford green IG8 8AA. U13, U15 & U17 Men & Women, first field event starts at 11.45am, first track event starts 11.50am. Please use the following link to download the timetable

WATFORD OPEN GRADED MEETING – Takes place this Wednesday 9 April at Woodside Stadium, Horseshoe Lane, Watford WD25 7HH, nearest large car park if the facility car parks are full is the Leavesden Country Park off College road WD5 0NR (approximately 1100 metres) which is a continuation of Horseshoe Lane. Age-Groups are Under13 up to Veteran Men & Women (Under 13s may only compete in those events allowed by UK Athletics rules). Entry cost is £4 for one event, £6 for two or more events. Entries from 5.30pm, there may be separate desks for different events.

Start times and events 7.00pm 100m, 7.15pm Shot, 7.20pm 400m, 7.40pm 1500m, 7.45pm Long Jump, 8.00pm 200m, 8.20pm 800m, 8.50pm 3000m. HIGHGATE HARRIERS OPEN MEETING – Takes place this Wednesday 9 April at Parliament Hill Fields and events are for all age-groups including U11s, you can enter online at www.highgateharriers.org.uk attached is the information flyer. Entries are taken on the night, but you are strongly advised to enter online as these entrants will be given priority. 

VIRGIN MONEY LONDON MINI MARATHON – Takes place this Sunday 13 April with the majority of our athletes running in the London Borough of Barnet teams. The start location is at Old Billingsgate Market, Lower Thames Street, EC3R 6DX. The first race starts at 8.55am.

SOUTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION 3 NORTH ROUND 1 Takes place on Saturday 19 April at Woodside Stadium, Horseshoe Lane, Watford WD25 7HH, Under 17 to Veteran Men & Women, first field event starts at 12.00noon, first track event starts 12.15pm. VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED – For the 2014 IPC Athletics European Championships in Swansea, the ‘Champions’ volunteering programme has been launched with the aim of recruiting up to 1000 volunteers to help deliver the event. As a volunteer you will be given a fantastic experience of being involved in a major international athletics event, as well as receiving some free training depending on your role. The training sessions are likely to take place during the month of July, so please bear this in mind when applying. Swansea 2014 will take place at the Swansea University Sports Village between 18-23 August 2014 and will see around 600 of Europe’s best athletes compete for honours as they make their way towards the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. The volunteer programme is open to anyone aged 18 and over and is a fantastic, one-off opportunity to mix with elite sports stars and Paralympians. British Athletics have the opportunity to offer Officials who wish to gain experience at a Major Event in a specialist sport role supporting the National Technical Officials already appointed. We have been assigned a “code”.  If you are interested in registering to be a Volunteer, please use the below code. By inputting the “code”, you will be flagged to Athletics specific role. British Athletics technical volunteers – BASPORT Key criteria Swansea 2014 aims to recruit volunteers who will bring passion, enthusiasm and energy to the Championships, and who meet the following key criteria:

18 years old by 1 January 2014.

Available to volunteer for a minimum of 5 days at the Championships

Eligible to volunteer in the UK according to UK immigration laws.

Able to attend a training/orientation sessions prior to the Championships should it be required.

Agree to, and pass certain security and background checks.

Why volunteer?

The main benefit of volunteering is the chance to play an integral role in one of the key events UK.

The Championships will provide a unique and inspirational setting for volunteers to gain experience and develop their skills.

Note that:

Swansea 2014 will provide volunteers with free meals during their shifts.

Each volunteer will be given an official uniform to wear and will have the opportunity to keep their uniform as a souvenir of their experience and contribution to the Championships.

Accommodation will not be provided.

Every applicant will be expected to go through the full Swansea 2014 recruitment process, which will include completing an application form and attending training events where applicable.

RESULTS – I endeavor to publish as many results as possible, as my main source is the power of 10 website. Unfortunately all races do not make the PO10. Therefore feel free to e-mail me the race, date and result if you have it, if not the result there is a good chance I can find it on Google.

Monday 21 April – London Inter Club Challenge Round 1 – Lee Valley Athletic Centre, 61 Meridian Way, Edmonton, London N9 0AR. Is free to all members of Shaftesbury, but why not bring a friend and introduce him to athletics (there is a charge of £2 per event for non-members). Registration opens at 11.00am, and closes 30 minutes before the published start time. All events are for both male and female age-groups unless stated. Both track and field events commence at 12 noon. Note: You do not have to be pre-entered, just turn up and register. 

Sunday 27 April – UK Youth Development League Upper Age-Group Southern Premier Round 1 – Sportspark, University of East Anglia, Norwich Research Park, Norwich NR4 7TJ, Under 17 and Under 20 Men & Women.
