The British Indoor Championships took place in Birmingham on 9-10 February. The week-end was outstanding for Dominic Ashwell who after winning the 60m U20 Championships last year, stepped up to the senior ranks and took the title against a top class field. Equally outstanding was Scott Lincoln’s performance in winning the Shot , making it 4 wins in succesion.
The final Start Fitness Metropolitan League took place on 9 February at Alexandra Palace – It proved to be another succesful season for Shaftesbury with the U15/U17 Women’s team winning the title by 181 points, U11 Boys and U15/U17 Boys finished 2nd and U11 Girls were 3rd. We had many Individual successes throughout, but athlete of the season must be Freya Stapleton winning all 5 Under 17 races.
The Southern Cross Country Championships took place at Parliament Hill on 26 January – Congratulations to David Stone who won the Under 17 Men title with Kristian Imroth taking the Bronze Medal. There wer Bronze Medals from Mukhtar Musa Under 15 Boys and Naomi Taschimowitz Senior Women. There were also top 5 finishes from Under 17 Women Freya Stapleton 4th and Lia Radus 5th, Also in the Senior Men Alexander Lepretre finished 4th
