The first UK Youth Development League (U17/U20) took place on Sunday 5 May at Reading. The team had a superb win defeating the current league champions Blackheath & Bromley by 63 points.
The second Eastern Young Athletes League fixture took place on Saturday 4 May at St Albans. After a ding dong battlle all afternoon, the team finished in 2nd place behind Havering, and now we are in 3rd place overall after 2 fixtures
The first Middlesex Young Athletes League took place on Saturday 27 April at Perivale Park. The team performance was outstanding and finished 18.5 points behind Highgate Harriers.
New Club Record – Congratulations to Niah Akintokun who set a Under 15 Girls 100m record of (12.13 w0.4) at the Middlesex Championships on Sunday 12 May 2019 at Lee Valley. This eclipses a long time record (12.18) set on the 8 July 1995 by Jean Oyeyemi.
New Club Record – Congratulations to Gregory Thompson who set a Senior Men’s 2kg Discus record of (65.56m) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA on 27 April 2019. This ranks him UK No.1 in 2019 and No.4 on the UK All-Time list. We currently have 3 of the top 4 Discus throwers in the UK all studying at Universities in the USA
The first London Inter Club Challege Including The London Colleges League took place on 20 April at Lee Valley – On a very warm day we had an excellent turnout of 63 Shaftesbury athletes , who produced no less than 35 peronal best performances.
The National Road Relays took place on 15 April in Sutton Park, Birmingham – The Men’s Team consisting of 6 legs of 5.38k and 6 legs of 3.16k produced an excellent performance for many a year, finishing in 9th place equalleing their 2015 result.
The SBH Annual General Meeting took place on Tuesday 27 November at Allianz Park. The meeting was well attended by some 120 club members, you can see a report in the 29 November SBH Weekly Newsletter in the ‘News’ section above
