JAKE SHELLEY – Produced his best performance on the track breaking 8 minutes (7:59.57) for 3000m at the BMC meeting in Sheffield on 10 January. This puts him at No.6 on the Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers all-time list behind Dave Bedford (7:46.4 – 1972), Julian Goater (7:48.66 – 1980), James Espir (7:51.92 – 1980), Anthony Whiteman (7:52.62 – 2002), John Sherban (7:58.47 – 1991).  JAKE told me he plans to run an 800m and mile at altitude in Albuquergue, New Mexico on the 24 January and 31 January respectively, and then try and run a quick time over the mile or 3000m back at sea level in Seattle on 14 February. He will do some races in America in April, May and June before coming back for his main target race, the UK Championships on 3-5 July.

The following link is an article written by JAKE on his cross country season when he first went to New Mexico University in August 2013, it is an excellent read. Click here

The UNDER 15/17 WOMEN were outstanding to finish in first place again, and have now taken over the overall lead, TVH are now in 2nd place 29 points behind us

Our SENIOR WOMEN really packed well to record their 2nd win of the season, increasing the lead overall with Highgate Harriers to16 points.

The SENIOR MEN were short of numbers which showed in the result finishing in 4th place, which maintained our fourth place overall.

The final fixture is on Saturday 7 February at Wormwood Scrubs, and following our excellent results to date, we need a final good turnout to consolidate our position.
