BOXING DAY – There is only one place to spend Boxing Day morning and that is at the Club house in Allianz Park for the annual Boxing Day run.  Start is at 11am so be there at 10.30 or just before to register.  Entry fee for the run is just £1 and there are prizes for each age group male and female winners could win £5000.  Free  Hot drinks, a raffle with magnificent prizes donated by members.

RACHEL FELTON ran for England in the Belgium Cross Cup event in Brussels on Sunday 22 December. Rachel finished 10th (3rd English finisher 20.45) in the 6000m race which included many runners who ran in the European Championships. The winner was Hassan Sifan of the Netherlands (19.38). The England team ran out emphatic winners with their fourth scorer just behind Rachel in 11th place.

LIAM DEE U20 also ran in the Belgium Cross Cup Under 20 Men’s 6000m race finishing 9th (20.14), the winner was Jac Hopkins U17 of Swansea (19.40)

ACTIVE TRAINING WORLD METROPOLITAN LEAGUE – Saturday 21 December was the third of five fixtures, and was held at a very muddy Alexandra Palace. It was an excellent turnout from all age-groups with a total of 54 runners, following 48 at Stevenage and 43 at Claybury, who knows we could hit 60 at Horsenden Hill on 11 January.

There were Individual wins from JAMIE HARPER U13 and REBEKAH GARDINER Senior Women, also top ten finishes came from HENRY FULTON U13 3rd, FINN HARVEY U13 4th, TOM PATRICK U13 6th, MIA GROOM U13 4th, JOSEPHINE CHADWICK U13 6th, GEMMA HARPER U13 8th, NATHAN GAMMON U15 6th, GABRIELLA KYRIACOU U15 9th, EMMA DWAN U17 8th, GLEN WATTS 6th, MICHAEL CALLEGARI U20 10th.

What outstanding performances from our teams, starting with the Under 13 Girls who at the start of the day were leading TVH by 53 points, and now extended their lead to 110 points, the Under 13 Boys also extended their lead over Herts Phoenix from 34 to 72 points. The Under 15/17 Men had their best result to date finishing 4th keeping them 4th overall, Under 15/17 Women also had their best result finishing 3rd moving them up to 4th overall. Senior Women maintained their 4th place overall by finishing 4th, Senior Men have improved no end and finished in an excellent 3rd place, moving the team up to 3rd place overall.

Team Result 1st SBH 157 points, 2nd Ealing, Southall & Middlesex, 3rd London Heathside 101. Team positions after 3 races 1st SBH 441 points, 2nd Thames Valley Harriers 331, 3rd Ealing, Southall & Middlesex 308. The winner was Charlotte Buckley of Thames Valley Harriers (10.43). 46 runners finished.

In the Men’s Junior Cash Prizes MICHAEL CALLEGARI was awarded £55 for first place, and BEN ROCHFORD received £15 for third place.

The Men’s Senior Cash Prize League is led by Shaun Dixon of Highgate Harriers with 1189 points, GLEN WATTS is in 2nd place with 1187 points. ORLANDO EDWARDS V35 is in 11th place with 1121 points and BEN ROCHFORD U20 is in 18th place with 1087 points. All of the first 25 placed runners have competed in all 3 races.

The Women’s Senior Cash Prize League is led by Sarah Swinhoe with 431 points, MARGARET COOPER V45 is in 7th place with 383 points, LUCY SHORT is equal 10th with 328 points, RACHEL FELTON is in 17th place with 299 points and REBEKAH GARDINER is in 20th place with 291 points.

RACHEL and REBEKAH have only competed in 2 races. Remember it is the best 4 out of 5 results that count.

In the HOWARD WILLIAMS TROPHY we have maintained our position in Junior Trophy leading by 3 points, and in the Senior Trophy we have moved up from 4th to 3rd place.

The Senior Trophy (Men & Women) is led by Highgate Harriers with 40 points (4 wins), 2nd Serpentine 38 points (1 win), 3rd SBH 46 points (1 win). The Junior Trophy (U13, U15 & U17 Men & Women) is led by SBH 58 points (5 wins), 2nd Herts Phoenix 55 points (2 wins), 3rd Thames Valley Harriers 50.5 points (1 Win).

Enter main car park off Du Cane Road (via Artillery Lane), through 6’6” height/width barrier. Extra parking will be available in the enclosed/fenced hospital parking area. Parking is free in all areas at the week-end. Saturday 11 January – Active Training World Metropolitan League Match 4 – Horsenden Hill, Greenford. Changing is available at the Perivale Community Centre, Horsenden Lane South, South Greenford, Greenford UB6 7NP. The course is a short walk away, and this is where you can collect your race numbers. Start times 1.15pm U13 Boys (3km), 1.20pm U13 Girls (3km), not before 1.35pm U17 Men and U15 Boys (4km), not before 1.40pm U17 Women and U15 Girls (4km), not before 1.55pm U20, Senior and Veteran Women (6km), not before 2.35pm U20, Senior and Veteran Men (8km). Please go to Active Training World Metropolitan League web site www.metleague.co.uk for information on course maps, directions etc and will be available 2 weeks prior to the race. Note: You do not have to be pre-entered, just turn up and run.
