LONDON MARATHON CLUB PLACES – The club has been allocated 3 places for the 2015 Virgin Money London Marathon.  These places are for active club members that were unsuccessful in the ballot.  Places will be allocated based on issues such as length of membership, participation for the club in recent years etc.  Please contact Philip Cunningham at billylow@ntlworld.com before Sunday 28 December 2014 if you would like to be considered for a place.

OUR FIRST COUNTY CHAMPION – The Avon, Somerset & Wiltshire Championships took place in Bath last Sunday, NAOMI TASCHIMOWITZ (2nd Claim) finished 3rd in the race (23.31). But as she was the first Somerset runner to finish, was duly awarded the Gold Medal.

ACTIVE TRAINING WORLD METROPOLITAN LEAGUE – The third of five fixtures takes place this Saturday 20 December at Hillingdon Sports Centre, Hillingdon Athletics Stadium, Hillingdon House Farm, Gatting Way, Uxbridge, Middlesex, UB8 1ES. Travellin. Parking by Car leave A40 at Swakelys Roundabout Junction – Public Transport Hillingdon or Uxbridge Stations (Metropolitan Line)Parking at athletics stadium and pool with a charge or free within Uxbridge College car park (closes at 4pm). Due to a large swimming event taking place at the sports centre spaces will be very limited so you are strongly advised to use public transport or car share for this fixture. PLEASE LEAVE IN SUFFICIENT TIME TO PARK CONSIDERATELY AND STILL BE ABLE TO ARRIVE ON TIME FOR YOUR RACE.

Timetable – 1.00pm U11 Boys/Girls 9+ years of age (1500m), 1.15pm U13 Boys (3000m), 1.20pm U13 Girls (3000m), not before 1.35pm U17 Men and U15 Boys (4000m), not before 1.40pm U17 Women and U15 Girls (4000m), not before 1.55pm U20, Senior and Veteran Women (6000m), not before 2.35pm U20, Senior and Veteran Men (8000m).Note: You do not have to be pre-entered, just turn up and run.

CASH PRIZES will be awarded again this season, firstly for U20 MEN and WOMEN. 1st place £55, 2nd place £30 and 3rd place £15, these prizes will be awarded at each of the 5 fixtures.

SENIOR MEN and WOMEN on a league table system with points awarded at each race, with the best 4 race points total to count. PRIZES are 1st place £575, 2nd place £400, 3rd place £325, 4th place £250, 5th place £200, 6th place £150 and 7th place £100.

SOUTHERN INTER COUNTY CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS – Took place at Horspath, Oxford last Saturday. All our runners were competing for Hertfordshire unless otherwise stated.

Under 13 Girls – LIA RADUS (Middlesex) 35th (11.54), SCARLETT KENT 55th (12.15), MIA GROOM 58th (12.15) there were 92 runners, the winner was Charlotte Buckley of Middlesex (10.55). Team positions 1st Surrey 32 points (3,7,8,14), 2nd Middlesex 65 (1,20,21,23), 3rd Hampshire 78 (6,13,24,35), 11th Hertfordshire 194 (31,52,54,57).

Under 13 Boys – FINN HARVEY (Middlesex) 6th (10.26), FREDDIE SHIRET 65th (11.33) there were 87 runners, the winner was Oscar Millard of Surrey (10.09). Team positions 1st Surrey 36 points (1,2,13,20), 2nd Buckinghamshire 55 (5,7,12,31), 3rd Sussex 56 (9,10,11,26), 5th Middlesex 73 (6,16,24,27), 8th Hertfordshire 164 (17,39,48,60).

Under 15 Girls – LIDIA KYRIACOU 62nd (18.52) there were 88 runners, the winner was Josie Czura of Hampshire (16.01). Team positions 1st Surrey 24 points (4,5,7,8), 2nd Kent 32 (2,6,10,14), 3rd Hampshire 41 (1,3,18,19), 6th Middlesex 149 (15,38,46,50), 8th Hertfordshire 163 (27,34,40,62).

Under 15 Boys – GEORGE GROOM 2nd (15.00), JEREMY DEMPSEY 5th (15.13), JAMIE HARPER 10th (15.39), ELLIOT DEE 13th (15.41), THOMAS FULTON 32nd (16.07),JOSHUA EDWARDS 35th (16.10), THOMAS PATRICK 46th (16.28) there were 85 runners, the winner was Zakayiya Mahamed of Hampshire (14.49). Team positions 1st Hertfordshire 30 points (2,5,10,13), 2nd Kent 41 (4,7,9,21), 3rd Hampshire 41 (1,6,12,22), 5th Middlesex 114 (11,14,40,49).

Under 17 Women – GABRIELLA KYRIACOU 25th (17.36), REBECCA HURLEY 68th (19.40) there were 74 runners, the winner was Sabrina Sinha of Kent (15.34). Team positions 1st Surrey 24 points (4,5,7,8), 2nd Kent 32 (2,6,10,14), 3rd Hampshire 41 (1,3,18,19), 6th Middlesex 149 (15,38,46,50), 8th Hertfordshire 163 (27,34,40,62).

Under 17 Men – there were 82 runners, the winner was Mahamid Mahamid of Hampshire (13.51).Team positions 1st Surrey 46points (2,6,8,30), 2nd Sussex 47 (5,11,14,17), 3rd Hampshire 61 (10,13,16,22), 5th Hertfordshire 85 (7,18,25,35), 8th Middlesex 150 ( 12,29,48,61).

Under 20 Women – there were 45 runners, the winner was Gemma Holloway of Essex (21.47). Team positions 1st Middlesex 49points (5,8,16,20), 2nd Essex 52 (1,7,11,33), 3rd Kent 64 (4,12,22,26), 7th Hertfordshire 123 (9,31,41,42).

Senior Women – REBEKAH GARDINER 12th (22.22) there were 54 runners, the winner was Lauren Deadman of Essex (20.48). Team positions 1st Surrey 25 points (2,4,9,10), 2nd Essex 39 (1,3,8,27), 3rd Kent 81 (6,19,24,32), 4th Middlesex 96 (14,20,21,41), 6th Hertfordshire 108 (11,12,35,50).

SOUTHERN MASTERS COUNTY CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS – Took place at Horspath, Oxford last Saturday.

Women 40-49 JO KENT V45 (Barnet) 6th (23.23) there were 25 runners, the winner was Lucy Elliott of Winchester (22.36). Team positions 1st Winchester 6 points (1,2,3), 2nd Reading 51 (16,17,18), 3rd Barnet 52 (6,13,33).

UPCOMING CROSS COUNTRY FIXTURES FOR THE NEXT 4 WEEKS

BOXING DAY BONANZA – Takes place at Allianz Park and Starts at 11.00am, £1 entry fee, there will be prizes, raffle and refreshments, and why not come in fancy dress.

MIDDLESEX CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS – Takes place on Saturday 3 January at Alexandra Palace. The park location postcode is N22 7AY – would all vehicles use the Paddock car park, for public transport, use either Wood Green tube station (Piccadilly) and take W3 bus (it’s a short ride) or Alexandra rail station (walkable from the rear exit or W3 from the front exit). Directions by road: A406 North Circular – exit at B550 Colney Hatch Lane, then onwards to Muswell Hill.

We will have the use of North Middlesex Cricket Club Pavilion as the meeting HQ. This is located some 5 minutes from the course at 185a Park Road, N8 8JJ (Although no parking will be allowed). Changing rooms, showers, snack bar etc are located at the HQ.
