START FITNESS METROPOLITAN LEAGUE – The second fixture of five takes place on Saturday 7 November at Stevenage, Hertfordshire. This is the Club Championships for Under 20, Senior and Masters 40+ Men.
Changing is at the Sailing Centre, Fairlands Valley Park, Six Hills Way, Stevenage (Satnav SG2 0BL), (Note the Sailing Centre closes at 16.30pm). Directions from the A1(M) leave at Junction 7, A602 to Stevenage. Follow the A602, Broadhall Way to the second roundabout. Turn left onto Monkswood Way and go to the next roundabout. Turn right onto Six Hills Way and follow for almost 1 mile. Turn left into park, sign-posted Sailing Centre.
The nearest car park is off Six Hills Way, signposted Sailing Centre. There is another car park off Shephall View, a one-way street accessed from Colestrete. This is only a short walk across the park to the HQ/Start. Stevenage Borough FC are playing at home and therefore the car park at the south end of the Park will be busy. You must park in the designated car parks and must certainly not park on the access roads, footpaths or verges within the Park. If you cannot find a parking place in the Park, there is adequate on-street parking in the surrounding roads. Please do not block drives or otherwise inconvenience residents. The course is on the other side of Six Hills Way and there is an underpass under the road, numbers will be given out on the course. NATIONAL CROSS COUNTRY RELAYS – Took place on Saturday 31October at Mansfield. It was a very pleasant day, although the 1st Leg was minimally shorter in distance, than the following Legs.
Overall it was an excellent day for the Humbugs, with pride of place going to the Senior Women’s Team of NAOMI TASCHIMOWITZ, RACHEL FELTON and BETH POTTER who won the Silver Medals and finished on 1.90 seconds behind Leeds City. The Under 15 Girls were 25th, Senior Men 16th, Under 17 Women 15th, Under 17 Men and Under 15 Boys 8th, Under 20 Men 7th.

VIRGIN MONEY LONDON MARATHON – SUNDAY 24 APRIL 2016 – It’s that time of year again with the London Marathon just 6 months away. The club has been allocated 2 places. These places are for active club members that were unsuccessful in the ballot. Places will be allocated based on issues such as length of membership, participation for the club in recent years etc. To apply for one of these Club places you will need to send proof of application/rejection to our Club Secretary, Phil Cunningham by email to billylow@ntlworld.com by Monday 16 November at which time a decision will be made by the Club Officers.
NEW YORK MARATHON – KOJO KYEREME V40 ran a personal best (2:26.17) finishing in 24th place, taking 2 minutes and 18 seconds off his 2006 time. It also puts hime No.1 on the SBH 2015 list some 42 seconds faster than DANIEL WATTS time in Berlin. I did look out for KOJO on Eurosport, but I believe he may have been on the start line on the lower level of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge.
