GEORGE EVANS NOMINATED – Congratulations to GEORGE who is one of five athletes nominated in the Under 20 age-group for the FPSG Scottish athlete of the year.

The winners will be presented at the Scottish Athletics awards dinner in Glasgow on 4 November.

START FITNESS METROPOLITAN LEAGUE – The first fixture of five takes place on Saturday 14 October at Claybury, Essex. Changing is at Ashton Playing Fields Track, 588 Chigwell Road, Woodford Green, Essex (Satnav IG8 8AA). Changing rooms and Showers available Ashton Playing Fields from 11.15am, although hot water tends to be limited.
Parking – Approximately 150 spaces at Ashton Playing Fields and limited parking on Roding Lane North and nearby residential roads. Please DO NOT park on grass verges, look out for any restrictions and do not block access.
HQ to Course – 10 minutes from Ashton Playing Fields to Claybury Park, Roding Lane North.
Course Description – Parkland setting, undulating course, with one steep climb per large lap, on grass and woodland paths.
Public Transport – Woodford underground station (Central Line) is 10 minutes walk away from Ashton Playing Fields. If you get off an eastbound train, you need to walk under the pedestrian subway and walk downhill, down Snakes Lane East. Bus numbers 275 and W14 stop at the gates to Ashton Playing Fields.
Directions From Major Roads – From the eastbound A406, branch left and merge onto the A1400 (signposted Gants Hill). At Charlie Brown’s roundabout, take the first left exit onto the A113 (signposted Chigwell). Go straight ahead through three sets of traffic lights (including a crossing set for pedestrians) and turn left into Ashton Playing Fields just after you go under a road bridge.

WINTER POINTS CHAMPIONSHIPS – This Saturday’s Metropolitan League fixture at Claybury, is the 1st race of winter series for all age-groups Men and Women.

START FITNESS METROPOLITAN LEAGUEPLEASE NOTE we have just received notification that the second fixture which takes place on Saturday 12 November will now be at Stanborough Park, Welwyn Garden City – Details to follow.

NATIONAL YOUNG ATHLETES AND SENIOR ROAD RELAYS – Took place last Saturday at Sutton Park, Birmingham.
On what I call a tough course, we had reasonable results with our Under 15 Girls team of MAAYAN RADUS, BLUEBELL COOKE and GRACE INGLES finished in 10th place. Under 20 Women finished 20th, Under 13 Boys 31st, Senior Men 33rd, Senior Women 46th, Under 17 Men 49th and Under 15 Boys 67th. Individually AIMI WEIGHTMAN (14.19) was the 3rd fastest time of the race in the Under 13 Girls, LUCA STUBBS ran a superb (12.57) to be around the 20’s some 23 seconds behind the leading time in the Under 15 Boys, finally in the Senior Women’s race NAOMI TASCHIMOWITZ finished just outside the top 10 with (14.30).

Under 13 Boys (3x3880m) ‘A’ Team 31st (45.20) Leg 1 SAMUEL GREENSTEIN (14.23), Leg 2 TOBY EDWARDS (15.25), Leg 3 ARCHIE NASH (15.32), the winning team was Aldershot, Farnham & District (40.31) and 67 team finished, the fastest leg was by Ethan Scott of Aldershot, Farnham & District (12.54)
 
Under 13 Girls (3x3880m) Incomplete Team Leg 1 AIMI WEIGHTMAN 2nd (14.19 3rd Fastest time of the day), the winning team was Vale Royal (44.01) and 65 team finished, the fastest leg was by Holly Weedall of Vale Royal (13.50)
 
Under 15 Boys (3x3880m) ‘A’ Team 67th (47.07) Leg 1 LUCA STUBBS (12.57), Leg 2 JONATHAN BOARDMAN (19.54), Leg 3 CASEY DOYLE (14.16), ‘B’ Team Incomplete Leg 1 RYAN LUIS (14.33), the winning team was Hillingdon (38.57) and 75 team finished, the fastest leg was by Ryan Shields of Birchfield Harriers (12.34)

Under 15 Girls (3x3880m) ‘A’ Team 10th (44.43) Leg 1 MAAYAN RADUS (14.50), Leg 2 BLUEBELL COOKE (15.25), Leg 3 GRACE INGLES (14.28), ‘B’ Team 43rd (49.27) Leg 1 ELENA RONCARATI (15.32), Leg 2 SYDNEY ALLEN (16.29), Leg 3 VICTORIA GODFREY (17.26), the winning team was Blackheath & Bromley (41.59) and 50 team finished, the fastest leg was by Caitllin Robinson of Liverpool (13.38)
 
Under 17 Men (3x3880m) ‘A’ Team 49th (41.43) Leg 1 MITTIO MOHAMMADIAN (13.29), Leg 2 DYLAN HEPWORTH (13.56), Leg 3 NAJIBE ARBE (14.18), the winning team was Aldershot, Farnham & District (36.09) and 57 team finished, the fastest leg was by Thomas Keen of Cambridge & Coleridge (11.23)

Under 17 Women (3x3880m) ‘A’ Team 20th (47.18) Leg 1 MIA GROOM (14.49), Leg 2 SCARLETT KENT (17.00), Leg 3 LYDIA KYRIACOU (15.29), B’ Team Incomplete Leg 1 SOPHIA DEMPSEY (15.54), the winning team was Liverpool Harriers (41.40) and 42 team finished, the fastest leg was by Ella Mcniven of Liverpool Harriers (13.00)

VIRGIN MONEY LONDON MARATHON 2018 CLUB ENTRIES

 

 

 

 

 

 

The club has been allocated 2 places. These places are for active club members that were unsuccessful in the ballot.  Places will be allocated based on issues such as length of membership, participation for the club in recent years etc. To apply for one of these Club places you will need to send proof of application/rejection to our Club Secretary, Phil Cunningham by email to billylow@ntlworld.com by Monday 6 November at which time a decision will be made by the Club Officers.

VIRGIN MONEY LONDON MARATHON 2018 CHAMPIONSHIP ENTRIES – Applications for a championship entry place in the 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon will open towards the end of November. It is possible to register your interest in a Championship entry now so you can be notified when entries open.

Do you qualify?
If you’re a member of an athletics club affiliated with England Athletics (or one of the other home countries associations), are a registered athlete with that club and you achieve(d) a championship-qualifying performance for a marathon (or half marathon) in 2016 or 2017, you are able to apply for a championship entry place in the 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon.

You will need to have completed a marathon (or half marathon) in the same time, or faster than, the times listed below – these are the official championship qualifying performance times. Your qualifying time must be achieved after 1 January 2016:

KIERAN CLEMENT AND LIAM DEE TRAINING VIDEO – The following video shows KIERAN (black “T” shirt and a beard) and LIAM (in the 2nd group) taking part in a 10-mile tempo in New York with an interview at the end.

RAY POWELL REBUKED – Back in 2014 we featured in our  weekly Newsletter RAY’S work of art,  in which he painted the 7 post boxes where he lives in Shefford, Bedfordshire.  This is one of RAY’S masterpiece,  and as you can see it is a masterpiece.

Outrage has now taken over this Hamlet in Befordshire, as after 3 year’s of posting their letters etc in these work of art, Royal Mail have under the cover of darkness, have returned them to the standard pillar box red.

127TH SBH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING Takes place on Tuesday 21 November at Allianz Park, Greenlands Lane, Hendon, London (SatNav NW4 1RL), The AGM commences at 7.30pm, followed at approximately 8.00pm with the Presentation of Awards for the 2016/2017 Cross Country season and 2017 Track & Field for both Men and Women.

Can you please let me know if you do NOT want your photograph to be used. Also I would appreciate if you could send me any photographs, which I can then publish on the website and newsletter.

SARACENS SPORT FOUNDATION – Little athletics programme is an athletics ‘Multi Skills’ programme for children aged 4-9 years. The programme is designed to teach children fundamental movement skills of athletics – running, jumping and throwing. The sessions are game based and as of September there will be a progression throughout the term.
LAP runs on a Tuesday and Thursday from 4.30-5.30pm – Term time only.  
1st Legacy athletics club is a pathway club for children aged 10-15 years new to athletics. Children are introduced to all the different athletics disciplines and have the opportunity to develop running, jumping and running skills that we hope they will then go onto use as a participant in the formal athletics club structure or in any other sport for activity they choose to progress to. The lead coach is Gintare Dargeviciute who brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the club.
1st Leg AC runs on a Tuesday and Thursday from 5.00–6.00pm – Term time only.

Charges for those with a membership card are as follows – Adult Daily entry fee £3.60, Monthly fee £24.00 – Junior (U16) Daily entry fee £1.80, Monthly fee £12.00 – Concession (Students in full time education, unwaged and Over 60) Daily entry fee £1.80, Monthly fee £12.00.
