Wanda Diamond League – Paris
The Paris Diamond League produced another outstanding evening of athletics despite sweltering conditions, with Diamond League records, world-leading performances and a host of national records and personal bests.
Among the standout performances, Busang Collen Kebinatshipi broke the Diamond League record in the men’s 400m with a world-leading 43.98, while Marileidy Paulino also set a Diamond League record and world lead of 48.48 in the women’s 400m.
The women’s 800m was one of the races of the night as Audrey Werro stormed to victory in 1:53.80, setting a Diamond League record, world lead, Swiss record and moving to third on the all-time list. Behind her, Anaïs Bourgoin set a French record, Sarah Billings broke the Australian record, while Femke Bol, Prudence Sekgodiso, Rénelle Lamote and Clara Liberman all recorded personal bests.
The women’s 1500m saw Georgia Hunter Bell claim victory in a world-leading performance, leading home a high-quality field in one of the fastest races of the season. Jessica Hull finished third, with several athletes recording season’s bests and personal bests.
In the men’s 5000m, Yomif Kejelcha ran a season’s best 12:47.84 to defeat Birhanu Balew and Graham Blanks, with four athletes finishing inside 12:52.
Elsewhere, Trayvon Bromell upset Olympic champion Noah Lyles to win the men’s 100m in 9.91, Marco Aropimpressed with 1:41.84 in the men’s 800m, Cameron Myers claimed the men’s 1500m in 3:28.00, and Armand Duplantis cleared 6.13m to win the pole vault before making three attempts at a new world record of 6.32m.
