We got away with it !!! After being as low as 5th and 4th for much of the day, the team rallied and ended a clear 2nd. Double firsts in the 1500m, 3000m S/C and the triple jump helped the come-back. Thanks to the young sprinters who volunteered to fill gaps at the last minute and got deserved PBs. The 2 relay teams were thrown together on the basis of the “last men standing” and competed well above expectations. The match was a day of 2 halves, with rain for the first 2 to 3 hours followed by sunshine for the last 3 hours, typical British summer conditions for Birmingham, which pretty much matched the team performance !!! Match Results 1st City of Manchester 338, 2nd SBH 318 points, 3rd Birchfield Harriers 294.5, 4th Cardiff 270, 5th City of Sheffield 247, 6th Enfield & Haringey 247, 7th Newham & Essex Beagles 245, 8th City of Liverpool 221.5.
We are leading the Premiership after 2 rounds but our old rivals Manchester are just behind.
