Excellent turnout and results from our academic athletes, winning 3 Gold Medals, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze. BETH POTTER won the 5000m by almost 35 seconds, DAVID SMITH won the High Jump and RACHEL HUNTER U23 won the 4kg Hammer with a PB 63.43m, and she is now UK No.1 U23 in 2014. Silver Medals came from ANTONIO INFANTINO in the 200m and losing by just 1 hundredth of a second, and MICHAEL CALLEGARI U23 in the 5000m, his time of 14:38.26 ranks him UK No.7 U23 in 2014. Bronze Medals were won by GEORGIA BELL U23 in the 800m and her time of 2:06.64 ranks her UK No.9 U23 in 2014, NED QUINEY in the Pole Vault. Our Steeplechasers were just outside the medals but their performances put them in the UK top ten, 2000m VICTORIA WALKER U23 7:25.87 ranks her No.2 U23 and ZOE LEVIN U23 PB 7:26.68 ranks her UK No.3 U23. In the 3000m FRANK BAILEY U23 ran 9:34.81 in his heat, which ranks him UK No.8 U23 but did not compete in the final.

What an exciting match to start the season with Shaftesbury finishing 2nd by 5.5 points to Windsor, unfortunately our U20 4 x 100m men’s relay team were disqualified even though they clearly won the race in 43.80. Match results 1st Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow 645 points, 2nd SBH 639.5, 3rd Team Norfolk 617.
Well done to you all on an excellent performance, and as you will see by the results what a very strong squad of athletes we have. There were UK top 10 performances from REBECCA KEATING U20 No.3 (Hammer), JOHNOI JOSEPHS U20 No.4 (110m Hurdles), SHAQUILLE THOMAS U20 No.5 (400m Hurdles), JAMES HAMBLIN U20 No.3 (Hammer), JOE BAMFORD U20 No.2 (Javelin), EAVION RICHARDSON U17 No.2 (Long Jump) and finally SABRINA BAKARE U20 No.2 (400m) and her time of 54.71 is a qualifying time for the World junior Championships.
