STONEX STADIUM MEMBERSHIP – To use the StoneX Stadium facilities for training, SBH members are required to pay a fee. You can register as a member (which is free) which then entitles you to a discount. This is the link to the form to apply for membership – SBH StoneX Membership 24-07-25
EMMA GOUGE who is the Stadium Athletics and SBH Co-Ordinator had advised me that any athletes coming outside the usual Tuesday and Thursday that they can tap and go with the sum up machine in West reception or scan the QR code, which they will find on the pedestrian gate on entry. We would remind you that athletes should not come through the clubhuse without paying the entry fee. This gets picked up, not only by other athletes that pay, and find it very frustrating and unfair, but also by Saracens security system which can result in a fine, and a ban from using the facility.

SHAFTESBURY BARNET HARRIERS SUBSCRIPTIONS – The current SBH annual subscription is £90 (following the 2025 SBH AGM) and the current England Athletics annual registration from 1 April 2025 is £20. The current total is £110 and you will be advised via the SBH Membermojo system, when your subscription and EA fees are due for payment.
For new members there is also a charge for Club Kit which is £45, giving an overall total of £155.

RESULTS
Just to clarify, that the results I publish can be different to those that are shown on the Power of 10. The differences relate to seasons and personal best performances, as certain Indoor and Outdoor performances/times are totally different for some type of events. The same applies to our Master athletes,  as on the Power of 10 any season and personal best performances relate to when they become Masters (35+), I show their performances based on their current 5 year age-groups.

ALEX YEE GOES No.2 ON UK MARATHON RANKINGS WITH 2:06.38 IN VALENCIA  The following article was published on the Athletics Weekly website recently. Photograph taken by JERRY SUN.

Olympic triathlon champion now has MO FARAH’S British record in his sights after impressive run in Spain on Sunday as PHIL SESSEMANN, JONNY MELLOR and NATASHA WILSON also shine. ALEX YEE is the reigning Olympic triathlon champion but he was clearly born to run. Racing in only his second marathon – in Valencia on Sunday (Dec 7) – he clocked (2:06:38) to go No.2 on the UK all-time rankings. Only MO FARAH, with (2:05:11) from Chicago in 2018, has gone quicker. When FARAH was at his peak, Yee featured on the front cover of AW as an English Schools cross-country champion. Since then he has popped up on our cover a few times despite his main focus in recent years being triathlon.

Now, following this sparkling performance on the Spanish streets of Valencia, will he be tempted to have a crack at FARAH’S mark in London? Yee’s marathon debut, after all, came in London this year with 2:11:08. In the build-up to Valencia, YEE had run a slightly disappointing (61:29) half-marathon in the same Spanish city in late October. But on Sunday he went through halfway in (63:30) before running the second half in (63:08). “Valencia marathon blew away any expectations I had of myself,” said YEE . “I had learned so much from London which was such a special experience but I felt with better preparation I had a chance to do something special. From start to finish the atmosphere was amazing and kept my legs and mind pushing through to one of the best performances of my life.”

In the British capital next spring he could face EMILE CAIRESS, the Olympic fourth-placer who, with a best of (2:06:46), has now been relegated to No.3 on the UK rankings. Not that CAIRESS will begrudge YEE, as the two have trained together in recent weeks along with PHIL SESEMANN – and CAIRESS helped pace his friends to around 35km on Sunday. The ever-improving SESEMANN also excelled in Valencia as he clocked (2:07:11) to take six seconds off the lifetime best he ran in Amsterdam in late October. It also means the Leeds runner has crept past STEVE JONES’ long-standing British record of (2:07:13) from 1985. Also thriving in the fast conditions, JONNY MELLOR improved his best of (2:09:06) to (2:08:45) just three weeks before his 39th birthday. MELLOR, who has a history of bad luck when it comes to selection for major championships, it is a timely run given there are Commonwealth Games and European Championships on home soil in 2026.

Such was the overall standard in Valencia, though, Yee placed seventh, SESEMANN 13th and MELLOR 22nd. Up ahead, the men’s overall victory went to JOHN KORIR, as the Kenyan clocked (2:02:24), adding to his Boston Marathon victory from earlier this year. Runner-up AMANAL PETROS ran a German record of (2:04:03). In third, AWET KIBRAB ran a Norwegian record of (2:04:24) on his marathon debut, while SUGURU OSAKO clocked a Japanese record of (2:04:55) in fourth. Fast times in Valencia are almost guaranteed and on a day of PBs and national records, NATASHA WILSON (née COCKRAM) ran a Welsh record of (2:24:21), taking almost two minutes off her best and rising to No.8 on the UK all-time rankings.

First woman home was JOYCILINE JEPKOSGEI in a course record and 2025 world leading mark of (2:14:00) after drawing away from fellow Kenyan PERES JEPCHIRCHIR in the closing kilometres, the runner-up clocking (2:14:43) as CHLOE HERBIET finished third in a Belgian record of (2:20:38). JEPKOSGEI has a good history of running in Valencia as she broke the half-marathon world record in the city in 2017. Further British performances included LILY PARTRIDGE with (2:27:54), VERITY HOPKINS with (2:31:21) and JENNY NESBITT with (2:32:48), while ALICE BRAHAMthe mum-of-four and former GB junior international, clocked 2:37:05 aged 49. Tewelde Menges of Medway & Maidstone ran a four-minute PB of (2:10:00), BEN CONNOR clocked a PB of (2:10:49) and JACK ROWE (2:12:33). Elsewhere, Canadian MALINDI ELMORE, a (4:02) 1500m runner 21 years ago, smashed the W45 world record with (2:24:53). Finland also celebrated a women’s national record thanks to ALISA VAINO’S (2:20:48), while JESSICA STENSON, with (2:21:24), set an Australian record and JULIA MAYER lowered her own Austrian record to (2:26:09).

On seeking technical advice “MailChimp” was recommended as the best way for SBH to go forward. There is one thing you should be aware off is that when you receive an email from me, the footer at the bottom has 4 options, of which one is “Unsubscribe Me From List”. Could I ask you not to select this as if you do you will be automatically removed from my distribution list.
