STONEX STADIUM MEMBERSHIP – To use the StoneX Stadium facilities for training, SBH members are required to pay a fee. You can register as a member (which is free) which then entitles you to a discount. This is the link to the form to apply for membership – SBH StoneX Membership 24-07-25
EMMA GOUGE who is the Stadium Athletics and SBH Co-Ordinator had advised me that any athletes coming outside the usual Tuesday and Thursday that they can tap and go with the sum up machine in West reception or scan the QR code, which they will find on the pedestrian gate on entry. We would remind you that athletes should not come through the clubhuse without paying the entry fee. This gets picked up, not only by other athletes that pay, and find it very frustrating and unfair, but also by Saracens security system which can result in a fine, and a ban from using the facility.

SHAFTESBURY BARNET HARRIERS SUBSCRIPTIONS – The current SBH annual subscription is £90 (following the 2025 SBH AGM) and the current England Athletics annual registration from 1 April 2025 is £20. The current total is £110 and you will be advised via the SBH Membermojo system, when your subscription and EA fees are due for payment.
For new members there is also a charge for Club Kit which is £45, giving an overall total of £155.

RESULTS
Just to clarify, that the results I publish can be different to those that are shown on the Power of 10. The differences relate to seasons and personal best performances, as certain Indoor and Outdoor performances/times are totally different for some type of events. The same applies to our Master athletes,  as on the Power of 10 any season and personal best performances relate to when they become Masters (35+), I show their performances based on their current 5 year age-groups.

RENEE REGIS WINS BRITISH INDOOR 200M WITH GOLDEN FAMILY MOMENT  The following article was published on the Athletics Weekly website recently.

The 20-year-old breaks MERLENE OTTEY’S championship record while AMBER ANNING settles for British indoor 400m bronze. The second day of the UK Indoor Athletics Championships in Birmingham (February 15) had a heart warming twist when RENEE REGIS was presented with her gold medal in the 200m by none other than her father, JOHN REGIS — the former world indoor 200m champion.

Regis entered the 200m final as the favourite after a stunning (22.89) run in the semi-finals, which set a new championship record. The previous record of (23.07) had stood since 1990, held by the legendary MERLENE OTTEY.

In the final, REGIS didn’t just win; she powered away from the field with an impressive (22.95), finishing comfortably ahead. HANNAH BRIER claimed silver in (23.37), while BROOKE IRONSIDE secured bronze with a time of (23.92). “I didn’t expect to run that fast in the semi-final,” said REGIS. “My coaches told me to commit, so that’s exactly what I did. “It was funny seeing my dad present me with the medal. He didn’t tell me he was going to do that, but it made the moment even more special.” The emotional family moment was just one of many highlights on a day that saw plenty of drama unfold on the track.

SCOTT LINCOLN CLAIMS NATIONAL TITLE NO.21 IN BIRMINGHAM  The following article was published on the Athletics Weekly website recently.

Shot putter throws 20.80m to win another gold to add to his huge collection at the Novuna UK Indoor Championships in Birmingham. SCOTT LINCOLN arrived back in rainswept Britain on Friday from his sunny new training base in Melbourne, Australia, with the goal of winning his 21st national title in Birmingham on Sunday (Feb 15). He succeeded with ease as he threw a best of (20.80m) with PATRICK SWAN taking silver with (17.12m) and DILLON CLAYDON bronze with (16.87m).

He would love to win a medal at next month’s World Indoor Championships, plus of course the European Champs and Commonwealth Games this summer. Most of all, he would like to take down the long-time British record of (21.68m) held by GEOFF CAPES. Such are his high standards, he wasn’t happy with his performance in Birmingham and hopes to improve in the two competitions he has planned – one indoors, one outdoors – before the World Indoors.

“I am so frustrated right now,” he said. “I have just come off a flight from Australia – it’s no excuse because I chose to come in at this time. I felt pretty good but I couldn’t quite hit the top gear today. It shows consistency but it is frustratingly close and hopefully in the next couple of weeks I can find it before the worlds. “I have just got to control the competition excitement now. I am ready to go with everything else. No matter how old you are, how many British titles you have won, you still get excited for these events.” LINCOLN admitted he was stoked up with caffeine to try to combat the jetlag and also lift himself ahead of throwing. But it didn’t quite click this weekend. “My set up now is all about me and being ready for those majors,” he said. “I just have to be controlled and everything else will take care of itself. We are targeting a big throw at the worlds and these competitions are good little pointers to see where we are, so we will build from here.”

REQUEST FROM TEAM MANAGERS – We are asking that you reply to team managers when they contact you? It’s very difficult to select a team if the athletes don’t reply especially when we can see that they have read the text. Even if they are unavailable the team managers need to know!

CURRENT DISTRIBUTION OF SHAFTESBURY INFORMATION Currently I notify members (by email) using “MailChimp”. The reason I changed, was in November 2017 “Gmail” put a limit of 100 addresses that users could send to in a 24-hour period, and currently I send to approximately 850 members each issue.

On seeking technical advice “MailChimp” was recommended as the best way for SBH to go forward. There is one thing you should be aware off is that when you receive an email from me, the footer at the bottom has 4 options, of which one is “Unsubscribe Me From List”. Could I ask you not to select this as if you do you will be automatically removed from my distribution list.
