I hope you have all had a good week so far!
Firstly, I’d like to introduce myself to those I haven’t met before. I’m Nicky – those who attend track sessions may already have seen me around: short blonde hair and a few leg tattoos! After a short pause in the newsletter, I’ll be stepping in as your new newsletter writer. I hope to keep you up to date with all things club-related, from local fixtures and race results to stand out performances.
News
Stone X Stadium has been confirmed as the venue for ATHLOS LDN26 on Friday 18th September. The Club will be looking for volunteers and marshals closer to the event, so keep an eye out for more details in the coming months. Please also note that access to the track will be restricted during the week leading up to the event. It’s exciting to see our stadium hosting an event of this scale, and it’s particularly interesting that this will be an all-female event — we are expecting some seriously fast times! More information and tickets can be found here.
Summer Competitions at StoneX kick off with the Season Opener this weekend on Saturday, 20 June. We have many athletes competing, however If competing isn’t for you, supporters and spectators are very welcome too.
The club is looking for more licensed officials to help support competitions and meetings. Becoming an official means obtaining an England Athletics licence, which involves three steps: attending a short online course (typically a couple of hours on a weekday evening), completing short self-paced Safeguarding and Health & Safety modules, and completing a DBS check. The club will cover all costs for anyone able to officiate at two fixtures per season. If you’re interested, please check the guidance document here and let either James or Helen know so they can support you through the process. Alternatively, you can reply to this newsletter.
A reminder that we are halfway through the Track season and the 3rd YDL is crucial for promotion, the next two EYALs are also vital for us to get into the final. Regarding NAL, we made a strong start to the season however we had several gaps in the team – please reach out if you are keen to race for the club in the upcoming fixtures below.
