SCOTS GET THE BLUESAthletics Weekly reported this week that the Scottish public has spoken and it has demanded that the Scottish Athletics jersey return to blue after eight years in white.

The governing body began a consultation process after it was confirmed it had signed a deal with sportswear company Macron to manufacture the country’s kits for the next two years.

After being put to a public vote in which three options were offered, 1124 out of 1263 opted for one of two blue kit choices. Scottish Athletics hopes to have athletes using the new kits by the end of the year.

RUNNING ROUTE, TASMIN TRAIL, RICHMOND PARKAthletics Weekly have published this week a new series exploring some great off-road running routes around Britain

richmond-park-photographrichmond-park-routeStart/finish: Richmond Park TW10 5HG – any entrance Terrain: Path Toughness: Easy Ascent: 113 metres Navigation: Easy Good for: Urban escape, families

This gentle jaunt around picturesque Richmond Park is one of the most straightforward routes, following the perimeter, and equally enjoyable in either direction. From any of the main entrances join the Tasmin Trail, clearly signed as it crosses your path, heading left and right. There are plenty of opportunities to leave the track and explore grassy trails through the woods, lakes and rolling parkland. From King Henry’s Mound, near to Pembroke lodge, there is a fine, protected view all the way to St Paul’s Cathedral.

Cafes and ice-cream sellers are plentiful, and the affluent areas surrounding the park are abundant with places to relax and refuel post-run. The park closes at dusk.
