SBH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING – Confirming that the Presentation of Awards for the 2013/2014 Cross Country and 2014 Track & Field will be for both Male and Female athletes.
NEW SBH LONDON MARATHON TEAM – We would like to introduce ourselves as the new SBH officers who will be looking after the organisation of the Club’s volunteers for next year’s events.
My name is Ray Powell, and I’m a longstanding member of the Club who still competes regularly, subject to fitness, in both cross country and road running. I have run the London Marathon twice, firstly back in 1987 when I ran 2-34-54 and then again in 2012 to coincide with the London Olympics when I was a lot slower!!!. I will be working alongside my wife Clare, who is also a lifelong SBH supporter. We both know we have a tough act to follow after the very successful efforts of Nadeem and Chrystal in recent years, but we will do our best.
We have helped out at the Mini Marathon before, so we have some practical experience, but please be patient with us as we have not got the experience of organising all the areas that need to be covered. We will hopefully be quick learners and after all, we have a great team of volunteers to work with.
We have had a preliminary meeting with London Marathon, and they have given us the dates for the events that we have committed to support in 2015:
London Mini Marathon – Sunday 26 April – 85 volunteers
London Marathon Contingency Group – Sunday 26 April – 20 volunteers
BUPA Westminster Mile – Sunday 24 May – 20 volunteers
BUPA London 10k – Bank Holiday Monday 25 May – 20 volunteers
Standard Chartered Great City Race – Thursday 9 July – 20 volunteers
If you are available to volunteer again for 2015, we’d love your support! Could you please confirm your availability if possible by the middle to end of November. Should you not be available, and wish to be taken off the Club volunteer list then please let us know.
Please email Ray at ray571m@btopenworld.com
Kind regards – Ray and Clare

POSSIBLE CLOSURE OF TOOTING BEC RUNNING TRACK – We have requested if we would consult our members regarding the closure.
The response to our petition from local residents and users of the track has been overwhelming. In less than a week we have collected hundreds of signatures, and support is increasing all the time.
The track is a real community asset, used by schools, running groups, exercise classes and so many more. I’ve been a keen user of the track myself for many years, from when I was a student at the local primary and secondary school to when I was training for the London Marathon! By signing this petition you have shown your support for protecting the track, and making sure it remains affordable and open to everyone in our community.
In order to demonstrate the level of support we have, we are going to need to collect lots more signatures – and that’s where you come in, however much time you have to spare… Take 1 minute and click on these links to share our petition with your friends on Twitter and Facebook
Take 3 minutes to forward the petition to 5 friends or neighbours
We’re also busy collecting signatures in the local area – if you can spare 30 minutes email me direct at sadiqkhanmp@parliament.uk for details.
