SOUTHERN CROSS COUNTRY RELAY CHAMPIONSHIPS – Takes place on Saturday 18 October at Wormwood Scrubs. The day was bright and warm, with the running conditions excellent (firm especially following the recent downpours).
It is good to see so many of our Young Athletes competing, as it has been a very fixture congested start to Shaftesbury’s season, including weekly school races.
Pride of place went to the Under 15 Boys Gold Medalists team of HAMZA KADIR, JEREMY DEMPSEY and GEORGE GROOM who are undefeated this winter. Having won the Southern and National Road Relays JEREMY DEMPSEY has now been in all 3 winning teams, GEORGE GROOM and THOMAS FULTON have picked up 2 Gold Medals. The Under 13 Girls in an excellent 4th place, Under 20 Men were 5th, Under 13 Boys 7th and the Under 15 Boys “B” 8th

UNCLAIMED SPIKES – Clyde Gordon has in his possession a pair of Red & Black spikes, which were left last July after a Javelin coaching session. LIDDIARD TROPHY AND NORTH OF THE THAMES CHAMPIONSHIPS – Takes place this Saturday 25 October at Fryent Country Park, Kingsbury. Race headquarters is at the Kingsbury Free Church Hall, Slough Lane, Kingsbury NW9 8QG. Please park in nearby roads, not in the church Hall. Toilets available in Church Hall, no showers and very limited changing facilities, and Church Hall will not be available until 12.30pm. ACTIVE TRAINING WORLD METROPOLITAN LEAGUE – The second of five fixtures takes place on Saturday 8 November at Stevenage, Hertfordshire. Changing is at the Sailing Centre, Fairlands Valley Park, Six Hills Way, Stevenage SG2 0BL (Note the Sailing Centre closes at 16.30pm). Directions from the A1(M) leave at Junction 7, A602 to Stevenage. Follow the A602, Broadhall Way to the second roundabout. Turn left onto Monkswood Way and go to the next roundabout. Turn right onto Six Hills Way and follow for almost 1 mile. Turn left into park, sign-posted Sailing Centre. The course is on the other side of Six Hills Way and there is an underpass under the road. Numbers will be given out on the course. There will now be an Under 11 Development Race for Boys & Girls (1500m) starting at 1pm prior to the first League race at 1.15pm.
