CHARLOTTE PURDUE AND JAKE SMITH ENJOY VITALITY BIG HALF VICTORIESThe following article was published on the Athletics Weekly website recently.
Around 12,000 runners take part in 13.1-mile event in London on Sunday. In her third win in the women’s race, PURDUE improved her own course record to (69:51), which bodes well for her chances at the Virgin Money London Marathon on 3 October. In the men’s race, SMITH clocked (62:06) to beat JACK ROWE by five seconds and the Cardiff runner will hope to go quicker still when he lines up in the Great North Run on 12 September.
Still awaiting results to be put on the PO10, if anyone run please let me know.

THIS WEEKS RESULTS The Southern U13/U15/U17 Championships took place in Kingston, unfortunately as of now the Men’s results are still unavalable. UPCOMING ROAD RELAY AND CROSS COUNTRY FIXTURES 2021-2022Apologies but i realise the Summer is not quite over, but it will not be long before thoughts of returning to a normal Cross Country season will bring joy to all you mud revellers. But first the Road Relays are now only 4/6 weeks away.

It my belief the Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers has now an extraordinary number of talented athletes throughout all age-groups. I realise that with the impending Road Relays, our Team Managers will soon be under pressure in submitting our entries. For example, the Southern on 26 September (although the entry information is not published yet), will most likely have a closing date of Friday 10 September which is only 3 weeks away. To assist the Team Managers can athletes please contact them on your current availability (for Middlesex and Southern).

Cross Country, our season is not only geared to the Championships, but I truly believe the Metropolitan League and North West London League is a big help in developing the team spirit within the club. Especially the Metropolitan League where over the past few years our Individual and Team success has been outstanding. One of main reasons is the number of athletes taking part in all of the 5 fixtures has risen dramatically. Therefore, it does not matter what ability you have, and by running at the Metropolitan League and North West London League will make you a part of the SBH Team Spirit. These are the SBH Cross Country Team Managers.

SBH SUBSCRIPTIONS 2020-2021 SBH Treasurer GEOFF MORPHITIS has sent me the following regarding subscriptions.
The Club AGM took place virtually at 19.30 on Tuesday 24 November. One of the resolutions which was passed dealt with Club Subscriptions as follows. “The Annual Membership Fee for new members from 1 December 2020 will increase to £50. Existing members who have paid their membership fee for year ended 30 September 2020 will be considered as having also paid their fee for the year ended 30 September 2021.
In other words, in recognition of the disruption caused by Covid-19, these members will have 2 years membership for the price of one.” Therefore, I’m now asking athletes who have not paid their subscription for the year ended 30/09/20 (£45) to pay, so as to qualify for the 2 for 1 concession together with the England Athletics Registration Fee of £15 for 2020/21. The total is £60 and should be paid NOW to; ACCOUNT NAME: SHAFTESBURY BARNET HARRIERS, BANK: HSBC, ACCOUNT NUMBER: 41308378, SORT CODE: 400426 – Please let me know when payment is made. Thanks GEOFF

On seeking technical advice “MailChimp” was recommended as the best way for SBH to go forward. There is one thing you should be aware off is that when you receive an email from me, the footer at the bottom has 4 options, of which one is “Unsubscribe Me From List”. Could I ask you not to select this as if you do you will be automatically removed from my distribution list.
