SAINSBURYS BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIPS INC WORLD TRIALS – Took place in Birmingham on 3-5 July. The World Championships takes place in Beijing, China on 22-30 August.

Another excellent week-end for our athletes, finishing with three UK Champions, Congratulations to new member ZHARNEL HUGHES U23 (200m), KYLE LANGFORD U20 (800m) and JADE LALLY (Discus). There were Silver Medals from DAVID SMITH (High Jump), DANIEL BRAMBLE (Long Jump), YAMILE ALDAMA V40 (Triple Jump) her first competition in 2015, and ZANE DUQUEMIN (Discus and Shot). Our Bronze Medallists were OJIE EDOBURUN U20 (100m), NATHAN FOX (Triple Jump) and CHRIS BENNETT (Hammer).

The selection criteria is the first two placed eligible athletes in each individual Trials event will be automatically selected for the same event, provided the athlete by the end of the qualification period (23.00 on Sunday 26 July) has achieved at least two qualification standards.

All remaining eligible individual athletes will only be selected in this round if they have achieved at least one qualification standard (between 00:00 (GMT) 1 January 2015 and 23:00 (BST) 26 July 2015) and the Panel in its absolute discretion believes they:

  1. Have realistic potential to finish in the top 8 in their event in Beijing; or
  2. Are a developing athlete who is on the pathway towards individual medal success at future Olympic Games, iii. Head-to-heads;
  3. Previous major competition history;
  4. Injury status; and
  5. Position at the relevant Trials.

The GB&NI team will be selected on Monday 27 July and announced on Tuesday 28 July.

GB & NI EUROPEAN U20 TEAM – DARRYL NEITA (100m), OJIE EDOBURUN (100m), KYLE LANGFORD (800m) and LIAM DEE (1500m) were in the original selection to compete in Eskilstuna, Sweden on 16-19 July. Today Tuesday 7 July a further 22 athletes were added to the original team, we send our Congratulations to TOMMY RAMDHAN (200m), PAGE FAIRCLOUGH (4 x 100m Relay) and LILY BECKFORD (4 x 400m Relay). Also TOMMY and OJIE are included in the 4 x 100m relay squad, plus DARRYL is in the 4 x 100m relay squad. 

ENGLISH SCHOOLS CUP FINAL – Took place in Bedford on 4 July.

The Haberdashers Aske Boys School, Hertfordshire won the Intermediate Boys Silver Medal with (557 points), Southend High School won with (598 points), IB Results.

SOUTHERN LEAGUE DIVISION 2 WEST – The fourth of five fixtures took place in Abingdon on 4 July. Our athletes were certainly kept very busy, with CLYDE GORDON topping the list by competing in 8 events (he probably did not have time to sit down) and NENE HARRISON completed 4 events.

ATHLETICS SUMMER CAMPS AND CLINICS AT ALLIANZ PARK – are taking place from 3 August and will be providing experience of all athletic disciplines, as well as building upon the key skills of; agility balance and co-ordination.

All Full Day Camps cost £30 per child per day, or a whole week (5 days) cost £120.

This year we are offering the chance to add on Breakfast Club and After Camp Club at an extra cost.

WELCOME TO THE VILLAGE SPORTS CAMP – It’s a local summer camp run by NICOLE CARA SBH UKWAL Team Manager along with other Shaftesbury athletes as coaches. We offer football cricket athletics and multi sports to 4-14 year olds.

We are a new, safe, fun and affordable sports camp based at Mill Hill Village Sports Club, Burton Hole Lane, Mill Hill NW7 1AS. We offer sports and activities from specialist coaches to children aged 4-14 years old. We offer a wide variety of sports and activities where each child has the freedom to change groups/activities throughout the day. CHARGES FOR USING ALLIANZ PARK – The current charges for using Allianz Park are as follows – Adult Daily entry fee £4.00 – Junior (U18) Daily entry fee £2.00 – Concession (Students and Over 65) Daily entry fee £3.00.

As a member of Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers you can apply for a form which will give you membership of Allianz Park, you can pick up the form from the reception at Allianz Park. Any official coach of Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers gains entry free of charge.
