Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers Weekly Newsletter Wednesday 5 August 2026

Welcoming August: celebrated with gladiolus and the poppy, embodying the month’s themes of strength, remembrance and beauty. This month is the last of the long summer days – so whilst we have been complaining about the heat, let’s remember to enjoy the last month of brighter days.

Middlesex Young Athletes League
Shaftesbury has won the Middlesex Young Athletics League for the fourth year in the row last weekend – the youngsters showed their dominance winning all 4 of the matches. There are some further fixtures scheduled for this month to round off Track season with EYAL on 16th Aug.

Youth Development League
More success from our juniors as Shaftesbury won the final meet on Sunday 2nd Aug. This result means the club has now been promoted back to YDL Premiership, individual results to follow.

National Athletics League
For our Seniors, NAL is still on-going, currently the club is placed in second just behind Chelmsford AC. However all clubs are closely matched at the top with just 50 points between Shaftesbury in second and Herts Phoenix in 3rd. Our next fixture will be hosted locally at StoneX on 22nd Aug – please do get in touch with team managers if there are any spaces you’d be interesting in filing. We particularly lack depth within our Women’s team.
