START FITNESS METROPOLITAN LEAGUE – The fourth fixture of five takes place this Saturday 13 January at Wormwood Scrubs, Linford Christie Stadium, Du Cane Road (SatNav W12 0AE). Enter main car park off Du Cane Road (via Artillery Lane), through 6’6” height/width barrier. Extra parking will be available in the enclosed/fenced hospital parking area. Parking is free in all areas at the week-end.
Travel Directions by Tube – East Acton underground station on the Central Line is 10 mins walk; turn left out of station, walk up to the Scrubs, turn right. Bus – use buses for Hammersmith Hospital, walk up Artillery Way.
Travel Directions by Car – From the A40 Western Avenue heading east (towards central London) turn left at the intersection with Old Oak Common Lane in East Acton (Savoy Circus, Homebase is to the right). Turn right at the lights in to DuCane Road. Immediately after Wormwood Scrubs Prison and before the hospitals turn left into Artillery Way, the car park is at the end after the 6′ 6″ height barrier.

UK 5K ROAD RANKINGS 2017Congratulations to MELISSA COURTNEY who finished 4th, in which she ran (15.58) at Barrowford.

MIDDLESEX CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS – Takes place last Saturday at Greenford.
We had a reasonable day, with Silver Medals from SAMUEL GREENSTEIN U13 and LIA RADUS U17, there was also a Bronze Medal from FINN HARVEY U17. There were top 10 finishes from ANDONI AMPHLETT U11 10th, EVIE REDPATH U11 9th, MAAYAN RADUS U15 5th, SOPHIA STAAB U17 5th, JOSEPHINE CHADWICK U17 7th, OLIVER GREENSTEIN U20 5th, PHILLIP CROUT SM 4th and WILLIAM RYLE-HODGES 6th.
The UNDER 17 WOMEN won the team Silver Medal, with the UNDER 13 BOYS finishing 4th, UNDER 15 GIRLS 6th and UNDER 15 BOYS 8th.

Under 11 Boys – 1500m ANDONI AMPHLETT 10th (7.49) 32 runners finished. The winner was Liam Bailey of Highgate Harriers (7.15).
Under 11 Girls – 1500m EVIE REDPATH 9th (8.17), OLIVE HARVEY-DEW 14th (8.45), MYA MAIRS-INGRAM 16th (8.49), DAISY HARVEY-DEW 32nd (10.16) 32 runners finished. The winner was Asmaa Abdirahman of Hillingdon (7.26).

Under 17 Men – 5500m FINN HARVEY won the Bronze Medal (21.50) 19 runners finished. The winner was Jem O’Flaherty of London Heathside (20.49). Team result 1st Harrow (34 points)
Under 17 Women – 5000m LIA RADUS won the Silver Medal (20.30), SOPHIA STAAB 5th (21.22), JOSEPHINE CHADWICK 7th (21.35) 18 runners finished. The winner was Freya Thomson of Ranelagh (20.16). Team result 1st Ranelagh (11 points), 2nd SBH (14), 3rd Ealing, Southall & Middlesex (26)

Under 20 Women – 5000m 9 runners finished. The winner was India Weir of Thames Valley Harriers (29.38). No team result

Senior Women – 8000m VICTORIA DAWES V 17th (35.01), ELANA DIMMER 20th (36.06), 99 runners finished. The winner was Gemma Barry of Hillingdon (31.48). Team result 1st London Heathside (33 points), 2nd Thames Valley Harriers (47), 3rd Highgate Harriers (88)

HERTFORDSHIRE CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS – Takes place last Sunday at Cassiobury Park, Watford.
An outstanding day at a rather cool Watford, with congratulations to our 5 County Champions – GIANLEO STUBBS U11, AIMI WEIGHTMAN U13, THOMAS PATRICK U17, THOMAS FULTON U20 and GABRIELLA KYRIACOU U20. There were also Silver Medals from LIDIA KYRIACOU U17, KRISTIAN IMROTH U17 and VICTORIA PRITCHARD SW. GRACE INGLES U15 and RACHEL FELTON VW won a Bronze Medal. There were top 10 finishes from THOMAS CADWALLADER U11 4th, ARCHIE NASH U13 6th, LUCA STUBBS U15 10th, BLUEBELL COOKE U15 4th, ELENA RONCARATI U15 6th, DYLAN HEPWORTH U17 10th, MIA GROOM U17 5th, SARAH BUTLER U17 8th, RUFUS KENT U20 8th, JOSEPH PEPPIATT U20 10th, GAIA CASCIELLO U20 8th, THOMAS BUTLER U20 4th, ADAM THORPE SM 6th and JO KENT VW 10th.
Our trams were just as impressive with 4 County Team Titles from our UNDER 15 GIRLS, UNDER 17 MEN, UNDER 17 WOMEN and UNDER 20 MEN.

SOUTHERN U15/U17 INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPSTook place at Lee Valley on 6/7 January
We showed again what an outstanding group of athletes we currently have, especially our sprinters. We are proud to have had 4 Southern Champions, starting with REMI JOKOSENUMI U15 winning the 200m with a new Championship Best Performance (23.15) taking .17 of a second off the 2011 time, in the 800m GILAD NACHSHEN U15 won a tactical race with the first 3 laps being rather pedestrian (2:15.03), EVELYNE FONTAINE U15 won the High Jump with a personal best (1.55m), finally JAZZ SEARS U17 won the Triple Jump with a new personal best and Championship Best Performance (12.23m) eclipsing her own CBP set in 2017 (11.85m). There were Silver Medals from REMI JOKOSENUMI U15 60m (7.18), HANNAH FOSTER U17 200m (25.01) and SCARLETT KENT U17 800m (2:21.01). There were also Bronze Medals from NNAMDI NDUKWE U15 200m (24.20), MARLI JESSOP U17 60m Hurdles (8.93) and DANIEL ONOCHIE-WILLIAMS U17 Triple Jump (12.72m).

SOUTHERN CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS – Takes place on Saturday 27 January at Stanmer Park, Brighton, East Sussex (Satnav BN1 9QA)
Now that Brighton have have drawn an away match in the FA Cup we should have plenty of parking in their car park which is opposite Stanmer Park. Also we are led to believe that there are engineering works on the London to Brighton rail line that weekend so hardly any trains running through Falmer station (opposite Stanmer Pk) so there would be hardly any public transport.
Start Times11.00am U15 Boys (4500m), 11.20am U13 Girls (3000m), 11.35am U13 Boys (3000m), 11.50am U15 Girls (4000m), 12.10pm U17 Men (6000m), 12.40pm U20 Women (6000m), 1.05pm U17 Women (5000m), 1.30pm U20 Men (8000m), 2.05pm Senior Women (8000m), 2.50pm Senior Men (15000m). In the Senior Men’s race times will be stopped counted 90 minutes after the race starts.

SARACENS SPORT FOUNDATION – Little athletics programme is an athletics ‘Multi Skills’ programme for children aged 4-9 years. The programme is designed to teach children fundamental movement skills of athletics – running, jumping and throwing. The sessions are game based and as of September there will be a progression throughout the term.
LAP runs on a Tuesday and Thursday from 4.30-5.30pm – Term time only.  
1st Legacy athletics club is a pathway club for children aged 10-15 years new to athletics. Children are introduced to all the different athletics disciplines and have the opportunity to develop running, jumping and running skills that we hope they will then go onto use as a participant in the formal athletics club structure or in any other sport for activity they choose to progress to. The lead coach is Gintare Dargeviciute who brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the club.
1st Leg AC runs on a Tuesday and Thursday from 5.00–6.00pm – Term time only.
