START FITNESS METROPOLITAN LEAGUE – The fifth fixture of five took place last Saturday at Alexandra Palace. The course was extremely muddy, and the weather had a chill but reasonably bright.
Firstly a big thanks to all our Athletes, Parent, Team Managers and Officials who over the past 5 months have endured a somewhat wet period.
We showed on Saturday the strength in depth Shaftesbury’s Young Athletes have, as after the 4th fixture we were in 5th place in the Howard Williams Junior Trophy (which is based upon the U13 & U15/U17 Boys/Girls team positions). With the Under 13 Boys and the Under 15/17 Women having outstanding team wins, also solid performances from the Under 13 Girls (6th place) and Under 15/17 Boys (3rd place) we finished up winning the Trophy for the THIRD YEAR IN SUCCESSION. You will see below that there was one point between the top four teams, but we won based on our 5 team wins over the five fixtures.
The Howard Williams Senior Trophy for Men & Women combined saw us finished in fifth place.
Individually we had 2 winners, LUCA STUBBS (U13) and GABRIELLA KYRIACOU (U17). There were top 5 finishes from DYLAN MICHEL (U13) 4th, SARAH BUTLER (U15) 2nd, FINN HARVEY (U15) 2nd, GEORGE GROOM (U17) 2nd and VICTORIA PRITCHARD (Senior Women) 4th
