ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING – The AGM went well with well over 70 athletes and parents present. GEORGE HARRISON sent in his apologies as he was preparing for his visit to Buckingham Palace to receive his MBE so DAVE BEDFORD OBE presented the awards.

ABI OYEPITAN COACHING SESSION – “We have arranged a great opportunity for our members to attend an event next Tuesday 2 December here at Allianz Park with Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers very own GB Olympic women’s 200m Finalist ABI OYEPITAN. Abi is visiting us as part of a project which sees British Olympic athletes coming along to help inspire future generations!

We have arranged Coaching sessions for both Primary and Secondary School athletes starting at 4.30 and Abi will spend her time helping to support both sessions!

As a Club member you have the opportunity to be added to the Coaching group on a first come first serve basis – spaces are limited so if you are interested, please email Ian Bannister on ianbannister@saracens.net as soon as possible, confirming your full name and School year group.

Abi is a true role-model who has represented her Country (and of course her Club) at the highest possible levels so this is a fantastic opportunity to meet and learn from an Olympian!”

UK YOUTH DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE AGM – Took place in Birmingham on Saturday 22 November which Geoff Morphitis attended, this is his report.

This was the first AGM of this organisation after being in existence for 2 years. It was a bit shambolic as compared to other AGMs. The Treasurer agreed that the accounts were not correct as there was no provision for unpaid meeting expenses for the 70 meetings where organisers had yet to submit a claim for 2014. It was also a shame that the Administrator had not distributed her annual report in advance which limited questions.

Unfortunately, our attempt to restructure the organisation did not get enough support so the format of the Upper Age group competition remains unchanged being a combined U20 and U17 competition. The matches for 2015 are on Saturday 18 April (Eton), Saturday 16 May (Lee Valley), Sunday 28 June (Allianz Park) and Sunday 26 July (Bromley).

1-2-3 IN NORWICH – The City Of Norwich Half Marathon took place last Sunday, and the race produced a procession of Humbugs with DANIEL WATTS winning in a personal best (68.08) taking 30 seconds off his 2012 time, brother GLEN WATTS had to settle for 2nd place in a seasons best (68.22), finally KOJO KYEREME V35 finished 3rd in a seasons best (68.58), taking 5 minutes and 23 seconds off his September time.
