UPCOMING FIXTURES FOR THE NEXT 3 WEEKS 

LONDON INTER CLUB CHALLENGE Takes place this Saturday 31 May at Allianz Park, Greenlands Lane, Hendon NW4 1Rl, and Is free to all members of Shaftesbury, but why not bring a friend and introduce him to athletics (there is a charge of £2 per event for non-members). Registration opens at 10.30am, and closes 30 minutes before the published start time. All events are for both male and female age-groups unless stated. Both track and field events commence at 12 noon. Note: You do not have to be pre-entered, just turn up and register.

QUADKIDS Takes place prior to the London Inter Club Challenge on Saturday 31 May. CLYDE GORDON will be managing the event, with registration from 9.30am, first event starts at 10.00am, and completion around 11.30am, and is free to enter for Shaftesbury members and is £2 for non-members. Quadkids is primarily for school years 3 to 7 inclusive, ie age 7 to 12 and includes the four core disciplines of running (600m), throwing (Vortex Howler), jumping (Long Jump) and sprinting (75m). All are welcome and Parents you may be asked to join in by helping out on maybe one of the events.

THE UK YOUTH DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE UPPER AGE-GROUP SOUTHERN PREMIER ROUND 2 – Takes place this Sunday 1 June at the Norman Park Athletics Track, Hayes Lane, Bromley BR2 9EF. We finished only 5.5 points behind Windsor at Norwich in Round 1, this is our opportunity to reverse that result. WATFORD OPEN GRADED MEETING – Takes place on Wednesday 4 June at Woodside Stadium, Horseshoe Lane, Watford WD25 7HH, nearest large car park if the facility car parks are full is the Leavesden Country Park off College road WD5 0NR (approximately 1100 metres) which is a continuation of Horseshoe Lane. Age-Groups are Under13 up to Veteran Men & Women (Under 13s may only compete in those events allowed by UK Athletics rules). Entry cost is £4 for one event, £6 for two or more events. Entries from 5.30pm, there may be separate desks for different events.

BRITISH ATHLETIC LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION ROUND 2 – Takes place on Saturday 7 June at the Alexander Stadium, Walsall Road, Perry Barr, Birmingham B42 2LR. We started well in Cardiff with the team ending up runaway winners by 96 points, but if we are to retain our Premiership title we need an equally good performance in Birmingham. EASTERN YOUNG ATHLETES LEAGUE DIVISION 1 ROUND 3 Takes place on Sunday 15 June at Allianz Park, Greenlands Lane, Hendon NW4 1Rl. SOUTHERN COUNTIES VETERANS LEAGUE HERTS & NORTH MIDDLESEX DIVISION Takes place on Monday 16 June at Allianz Park, Greenlands Lane, Hendon NW4 1Rl. We are competing as a composite team with Barnet & District, you can turn up on the night, but be early please. 

EUROPEAN CHAMPION CLUBS CUP Took place last Saturday 24 May and Sunday 25 May at Villa Real De Santo, Antonio, Portugal. The team did exceptionally well finishing in 5th place (as last year) yet we were so close to 4th place which would have been as good as any British team has done in this competition in recent years. Virtually every event boasted at least one medallist from a major championships. There were PBs and SBs everywhere from the spirited SBH squad.
