MEDAL IN WAITING – It looks as though MARILYN OKORO along with CHRISTINE OHURUOGU, KELLY SOTHERTON and NICOLA SAUNDERS will be upgraded to a Bronze Medal from the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, in which they were all members of the GB 4x400m relay team which came fifth in 3:22.68. Russia’s silver medallists Anastasia Kapachinskaya and Tatyana Firova, tested positive, as did fourth-placed Belarus’ Sviatlana Usovich, and both teams have been disqualified as a result.

BRITISH ATHLETIC CROSS CHALLENGE  which took place in Liverpool RACHEL FELTON V35 finished 13th (27.55) which was her best ever finish (2nd V35 27.55) finishing 44 seconds behind the winner GEMMA STEEL

START FITNESS METROPOLITAN LEAGUE – The third fixture took place last Saturday at Wormwood Scrubs

On a dull but not too cold a day, our Under 17’s were in impressive form with HAMZA KADIR winning in a close finish and JAMIE HARPER came home in 3rd place. In the U15/U17 Women’s race SOPHIA STAAB finished 3rd in the U15 division, and in the U17’s LIDIA KYRIACOU and SARAH BUTLER were 5th and 6th respectively. In the Senior Women’s race VICTORIA PRITCHARD after a hard-fought battle finished in 2nd place, in the Men’s race JAKE SHELLEY also finished 2nd finishing only 6 seconds behind the winner Mohamud Aaden, and KHALID-ALI AHMED was 3rd under 20 finisher.

The team results were encouraging, with our Under 11 Girls team of 5 packed well, and finished in 3rd place keeping them in 3rd place overall. The Under 13 Girls team were 1 runner short, but maintained their 2nd place overall after 3 fixtures. Result of the day was achieved by the Under 15/17 Women who overcome the home team of Thames Valley Harriers winning by 3 points, and we now hold a reasonably comfortable lead over TVH after 3 fixtures. The Under 15/17 Men also had a close win, seeing off Hillingdon by 3 points, and moved up to 5th place overall.

Under 11 GirlsLAUREN MALTZ 8th (6.24),  EVIE REDPATH 12th (6.34), OLIVE HARVEY-DEW 17th (6.54), ABI JEFFERY 22nd (7.05), LOTTIE RACHEL 26th (7.16), LUCY MARCUS 29th (7.28) – 33 runners finished, the winner was Nicole McGovern of Hillingdon (5.52). Team result 1st Woodford Green with Essex Ladies (199 points), 2nd Victoria Park and Tower Hamlets (187 points), 3rd SBH (144 points), 11th SBH ‘B’ (25 points), 14 teams finished. PHOTOGRAPH’S– From time to time we have photographs of our members taken at meetings or presentations which we would like to use both on the website or incorporated within our report to our local newspaper. Can you please let me know if you do NOT want your photograph to be used.  

SARACENS SPORT FOUNDATION – Little athletics programme is an athletics ‘Multi Skills’ programme for children aged 4-9 years. The programme is designed to teach children fundamental movement skills of athletics – running, jumping and throwing. The sessions are game based and as of September there will be a progression throughout the term.
LAP runs on a Tuesday and Thursday from 4.30-5.30pm – Term time only.  
1st Legacy athletics club is a pathway club for children aged 10-15 years new to athletics. Children are introduced to all the different athletics disciplines and have the opportunity to develop running, jumping and running skills that we hope they will then go onto use as a participant in the formal athletics club structure or in any other sport for activity they choose to progress to. The lead coach is Gintare Dargeviciute who brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the club.
1st Leg AC runs on a Tuesday and Thursday from 5.00–6.00pm – Term time only.
